Diaspora

Last Year [In 2015] I traveled to Ireland three times.   The most my family had been there in one year.   The first time was  to see my grandmother and the rest of my family and the second time was sadly for my grandmother’s funeral.  The third time was for my cousin's wedding and to spend the holidays with our family.  Growing up, I always thought Ireland was in the clouds and when we would go to the beach on Cape Cod in summer I would wave to my grandmother and other family on the Emerald Isle. Ireland to so many people is this mythical place with leprechauns, rainbows with pots of gold, the color green and pubs.  To me, Ireland is my heritage that I hold onto quite proudly. The place where my father came from, the place where much of my extended family is from, it is home.  This Irish identity is what I am researching through depicting these familiar places of mine both here in the US and Ireland.
